Photo Gallery - Blossom Garden
These are photos of the construction of the Blossom Garden area of the North park, built to commemorate COVID-19 victims who died in the pandemic of 2019-2021.
To quote the National Trust: “We're currently creating the first of the blossom circles at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, close to the NHS Nightingale hospital. A total of 33 trees, including cherry, plum, hawthorn and crab apple will be planted to represent the city's 32 boroughs and the city of London. Local communities have been involved in the creation of the site, which will commemorate the lives lost from coronavirus and honour the key workers. The London Blossom Garden, due to be finished in spring, is being created in partnership with the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, with support from Bloomberg, working with Rosetta Arts and landscape architects The Edible Bus Stop and Davies White Landscape Architects.”
