Fantasticology is by Klassnik Corporation, Riitta Ikonen and We Made That.
Its distinctive pillars mark five points along the path along the route of Greenway along with patterned concrete floor surfaces and sculptural barrier blocks.
The Fantasticology sites are at each end of the section of Greenway that forms the Southern boundary of the Park. One adjacent to the A12 in the West, and two each side of Stratford High Street to the East. There are two sites further along Greenway - one by West Ham and one close to Newham University Hospital.
These works embrace the unusual history of this path by using motifs from manhole covers on the pillars, and incorporating bits of broken porcelain toilets and sinks found on the Park before its construction.
The Greenway is a path stretching from Hackney Wick to Beckton following the route of London’s Northern Outfall Sewer, designed by Joseph Bazalgette in 1858.
